Industrial connectors and terminals buying guide for sourcing review
Connector sourcing depends on the mating interface, electrical load, environment and installation method. A useful enquiry narrows those points before price comparison starts.
1. Mating interface and part reference
The mating side decides whether the request is a direct match, an alternative search or a new selection. Share the existing part number when available.

- Mating connector, PCB, panel or equipment side
- Photos of the front, back and locking area
- Pin count, pitch and orientation
- Direct replacement or acceptable alternative
2. Electrical requirement
Current, voltage and signal type affect terminal size, plating and housing choice. For mixed power and signal connectors, list the circuits separately.

3. Environment and sealing
A connector used in a clean cabinet is different from one used outdoors, near motors or in a wet area. Give the supplier the real use condition, even if the final standard is not chosen yet.

- IP rating target if known
- Operating temperature range

4. Mounting and assembly method
Mounting details prevent wrong samples. Confirm whether the connector is wire-to-wire, wire-to-board, panel mount, inline or part of a finished cable assembly.
